Folau relishing French showdown

Australia star Israel Folau has admitted he is a big admirer of the French style of playing and is relishing the prospect of taking on Les Bleus in the first Test on Saturday.

The Wallabies are preparing to face the unpredictable French at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, as they look to get the early advantage against the men in blue in the three-Test series.

Heading back to the Suncorp will bring found memories to Folau of his Wallabies debut when he jumped straight in at the deep end, facing the British & Irish Lions in the first Test.

Scoring two tries against the Lions in that game on June 22 really announced Folau’s presence on the world stage in rugby union and the flyer has not looked back for either his country or the Waratahs ever since.

Next up for the 25-year-old is a clash this weekend with France, who came through a mixed Six Nations campaign earlier this year and are still looking for some form of consistency under their head coach Phillipe Saint-Andre.

However what will be consistent is the French flair and unpredictable rugby which you always get from Les Bleus and the Wallabies have been working hard in their preparations on how to neutralise that in Brisbane.

Folau himself believes France’s flair is an amicable trait and can see some ‘Frenchness’ in his own game.

He was quoted by Yahoo!7 Sport, saying: "I think there will be a bit of everything really. We've trained all week for the unpredictable.

"Especially in attack; they can throw the ball around, put little chips over the top and grubbers in behind so, defensively, we have to be on to try and stop them.

"They push things when most players don't think you can do it. I'm very excited about what they present to us.

"I play a similar style where I like to play my rugby on what unfolds during the game and not too structured."

Australia have tended to play with plenty of creativity themselves but should avoid getting sucked into who can ‘out-flair’ who at the Suncorp, as the Wallabies might well come unstuck with France around 5.00 in the betting markets to claim the win.

Instead using the structures that served Australia well in the northern hemisphere on their tour last year, and of course the flair of Folau, will be far more likely to serve them in better stead as the 1.16 favourites.

If you are looking to find the best odds out there you should take a look on websites that give reviews of betting providers. CasinoShortList.org for example is a website that reviews the best betting and casino deals for you.

Many will be backing the Wallabies to come out on top but, in what is set to be a highly-competitive series, the French will certainly be looking to put that world-renowned flair to good use and cause an upset.
